In a remarkable display of resilience, Emma Raducanu halted her recent four-match losing streak by defeating Maria Sakkari 6-4, 6-2 in the first round of the Dubai Tennis Championships on Sunday. This victory not only marks a significant turnaround in Raducanu’s season but also maintains her perfect record against Sakkari, having previously bested the Greek player at the 2021 US Open and Wimbledon last year.

Raducanu, who entered the tournament as a wildcard, showcased her determination by breaking Sakkari’s serve in the opening game. I’m really pleased with how I fought against a top player.”

Currently ranked No. 60, she now advances to face 14th seed Karolina Muchova in the next round.
