Emma Raducanu finalises this tournament to start ‘comeback year’ 2025
The 2024 season has surely ended for Emma Raducanu and she’s already focused her attention on next year’s tournaments. She had a strange 2024 in which she lived through inconsistent performances on the court. However, she ended with some positives by climbing 200 places in the WTA rankings.
The British star currently sits as World No.59 despite her struggles this year. She struggled to reach her best form this season after missing out for most of 2023 following several surgeries. The 22-year-old found her game rhythm during the grass season and enjoyed a bold run to the fourth round of Wimbledon in July.
She continued with the momentum and reached the quarterfinals of the Citi Open. But, she let it slip away after skipping the Canadian and Cincinnati Open. At the US Open, she lost to Sofia Kenin in the first round, a stark contrast from her 2021 victory at the same Grand Slam event. However, that made her decide to compete in back-to-back tournaments in the Asian swing.
But that did not go as planned as she suffered an ankle injury at the Korean Open, which kept her sidelined from the entirety of the Asian swing. She, however, returned to the court at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Malaga and went unbeaten, helping Great Britain to reach the semifinals before losing to Slovakia.
It is revealed that the World No.59 will be competing at the Auckland Open, her first tournament for the 2025 season. Naomi Osaka and Coco Gauff are the two biggest names who are going to be joining her at the event when it kicks off on December 30. Raducanu featured at the event this season but exited in the second round after losing to runner-up Elina Svitolina in three sets.
