Coco Gauff surpasses $20 million in career prize money after record-breaking earning at WTA Finals in Riyadh

Coco Gauff recently surpassed $20 million in prize money after earning a record-breaking $4.8 million by winning the 2024 WTA Finals in Riyadh. This win in Saudi Arabia marked her fourth title of the season.

Gauff had a successful season this year, which she kicked off by defending her title at the 2024 ASB Classic by defeating Elina Svitolina in the final. She then claimed the China Open title, overcoming Karolina Muchova in the championship match.

 

The former US Open champion also won the women’s doubles event at the French Open, partnering with Katerina Siniakova to defeat the Italian duo of Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini in the final

 

In Riyadh, Coco Gauff was placed in the Orange Group and she began her campaign by defeating compatriot Jessica Pegula 6–3, 6–2 and defending champion Iga Swiatek 6–3, 6–4 in the first two group stage matches.

 

However, in the third group stage match, the 20-year-old lost to Barbora Krejčíková 5-7, 4-6. Gauff then bounced back in the semifinals and defeated World No. 1, Aryna Sabalenka 7-6(4), 6-3 before ultimately winning the title by triumphing over Zheng Qinwen 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(2) in the final.

During the post-match press conference following her win over Zheng Qinwen in the final of the 2024 WTA Finals, Coco Gauff expressed her thoughts on winning the $4.8 million prize money.
