Tennis: Huge Bet on Djokovic

The year 2024 has been quite challenging for Novak Djokovic. Apart from winning the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the Serbian player has not clinched any major tournament titles.
At the age of 38, Nole is nearing the end of his illustrious career. However, that doesn’t mean he is finished just yet. Benoit Maylin has even taken a big gamble on Novak Djokovic’s 2025 season.
Novak Djokovic has experienced a difficult 2024 season. Plagued by injuries, the Serbian has not secured any major titles aside from the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
This Olympic victory, the only title missing from his career since 2008, was something Nole was fiercely pursuing. The 38-year-old player gave it his all, both physically and emotionally, to finally grab the prestigious medal. This may explain why he later showed some vulnerabilities in major tournaments.
But where is Djokovic? Because he qualified for the Masters. So, it raises questions! ‘The guy is burnt out, not motivated anymore. He won’t even win another Grand Slam.’ Stop! We’re talking about Novak. And we tend to forget that in 2023, he was phenomenal, winning three of the four Grand Slams along with the Masters, which he hadn’t achieved since 2015.
This year, despite undergoing knee surgery, he desperately wanted the gold medal around his neck. And he did it. This Olympic title, which he had been chasing since 2008, drained him emotionally. He needed to recharge his batteries,” Benoit Maylin initially explained in remarks reported by We Love Tennis.
