Jordan Spieth Matches Career-Best 62 in Final Round of CJ Cup Byron Nelson
On Sunday, the PGA Tour made a significant announcement by highlighting Jordan Spieth’s electric final round performance at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. Spieth shot a bogey-free 9-under 62, matching the lowest round of his PGA Tour career — a mark he had previously set at the 2021 Northern Trust.
Spieth’s round included nine birdies, with five coming on the front nine and four more on the back, showcasing superb ball-striking and confidence on the greens. The 62 propelled him to a solo fourth-place finish, just 11 days before he attempts to complete the career Grand Slam at the PGA Championship.
“My ball striking is coming around at a really nice time,” Spieth said. “I felt like I’ve been progressing each week since the surgery.”
This resurgence is especially notable as Spieth continues his comeback from left wrist surgery in August 2024. After a delayed season start in February, he has already notched three top-10 finishes in 10 starts.
Spieth is next scheduled to compete at the Truist Championship at Philadelphia Cricket Club, giving him another opportunity to sharpen his game ahead of the season’s second major. If his Byron Nelson performance is any indication, he’s heading into Quail Hollow with confidence and momentum.
